NEWSLETTER – TRI-WEEKLY BULLETIN Nº13

NEWSLETTER – TRI-WEEKLY BULLETIN
Nº13

Hello everyone,

As migration flows, IRCC processing times, and political priorities continue to evolve rapidly, it is essential to stay well informed.

This newsletter brings together the most significant recent developments in Canadian immigration—so you can plan your steps with confidence, avoid pitfalls, and seize opportunities.

Express Entry Draw – 4,500 invitations for French speakers

On September 4, 2025, IRCC launched the third Express Entry draw of the month, issuing 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates in the French Language Proficiency category.

The minimum score required was 446 points.

What you need to know:

This draw highlights the growing importance of French-speaking communities outside Quebec in Canada’s immigration strategy.

Only apply if you have strong French language skills (approved official tests), an up-to-date Express Entry profile, and all your documents ready.

For those who do not yet have this level, it may be motivation to invest in improving their French or explore Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that can give additional points.

IRCC: Current processing times (September 2025)

IRCC has just published the latest estimates of processing times, as of September 10, 2025, for several types of applications: citizenship, permanent residency, family sponsorships, temporary permits, etc.

Notable changes:

Type of application
Estimated wait time / recent developments

Permanent resident card (first application) — ~5-6 months

Stable or slight improvement depending on the program.

Spousal sponsorship (outside Quebec) — ~15 months

An increase of two months compared to the previous month.

Study permit / Temporary work permit (from abroad)

Wait times vary depending on the country of origin—some countries are seeing significant increases.

What this means for you:

Do not delay in submitting all required documents (certificates, medical exams, etc.), as errors or missing documents cause much longer delays than the standard processing times announced.

If you are in the process, keep an eye on IRCC updates: sometimes the estimated processing time changes, which can affect your travel, work, or housing plans.

If possible, choose a
fast-track or priority option, or a program known for its shorter processing times
(Express Entry, certain PNPs).

VisapourCanada is proud to expand its wedding document service to new provinces!

Following changes made by the Canadian government in 2024 regarding the authentication of legal documents (signing of the Hague Convention), it became very difficult to offer a Canada-wide service for wedding documents again.
Thanks to a new agreement with a third-party partner, we are pleased to announce we can now include the Eastern Canadian provinces in our process.
We now cover:

* Quebec
* Ontario
* New Brunswick
* Nova Scotia
* Prince Edward Island
* Newfoundland and Labrador

👉 These wedding documents are valid for weddings abroad, in Cuba, and in the Dominican Republic.
* Colombia can also be covered upon request, after analysis.

💌 Simplify your process, say YES, and go with a stress-free all-inclusive package with VisapourCanada!

Significant increase in asylum claims in 2025

Figures for the first half of 2025 show 57,440 asylum claims in Canada—a pace that points to a potentially very high annual total.

Key points:

  • The most common countries of origin include India (9,770 claims), Nigeria, Iran, etc.
  • The majority of applications are concentrated in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia, putting pressure on local infrastructure (housing, social services, health care, legal system).
  • Debates are intensifying around the balance between refugee protection and mechanisms to limit misuse of the system, processing times with the IRB, and the integration of newcomers.

Advice if you are considering this route:

    • Seek specialized legal advice as soon as possible.
    • Prepare your case carefully (evidence, testimonials, etc.).
    • Be aware of the delays and the effect this may have on your status, your rights while you wait, and your employment prospects.

Emigration trends: what recent data reveals

A phenomenon that receives less media coverage but is just as significant: many skilled immigrants are leaving Canada, or expressing their intention to do so, for a variety of reasons—career opportunities, cost of living, integration challenges.

What the

trends show:

Refugees often remain in Canada, while those who arrive through economic channels seem more likely to leave or consider leaving depending on their personal circumstances.

Some leave for the United States or other destinations for reasons related to salary, taxes, or quality of life.

This alerts policymakers to the importance of policies that promote not only arrival but also retention: recognition of qualifications, housing costs, language integration, and professional mobility.
